Abstract
Contemporary church leadership faces increasing internal and external challenges that demand not only competence but also perseverance from shepherds in pastoral ministry. This study explores the nature, dynamics, and significance of perseverance among shepherds within the context of contemporary church leadership. Employing a qualitative research approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis involving active church leaders. The findings reveal that perseverance is shaped by a strong sense of divine calling, spiritual discipline, and relational support within the faith community. Shepherds demonstrate perseverance through sustained commitment, adaptive leadership, and faithful service amid organizational pressures, cultural shifts, and personal struggles. Furthermore, perseverance contributes significantly to leadership stability, congregational trust, and long-term spiritual growth within the church. This study contributes to the discourse on pastoral leadership by highlighting perseverance as a critical dimension of effective and sustainable church leadership. The results offer practical implications for pastoral formation, leadership development, and church governance in contemporary contexts.
